Sometimes you are provided with a ready-to-use banner, sometimes the client might ask you to design a new banner. This tutorial will cover how to prepare a banner and upload the banner to Cascade.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h2><strong>STEP 1 &#8211; Banner change request<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>When you receive a banner change request, make a Basecamp to-do, post all client communication on this to-do, and subscribe your project managers.<\/p>\n<p>In order to start on the request, you will need the following information:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>name of the site\/department that needs banner update<\/li>\n<li>Banner or preferred image\/design<\/li>\n<li>department branding<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<pre>Example:\r\n\r\n- Department: Center for Women's &amp; Gender Studies\r\n- Preferred image attached\r\n- Department branding: <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">missing<\/span>\r\n              <a href=\"https:\/\/sites.la.utexas.edu\/kb\/files\/2020\/06\/bannerRequest1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-3102 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/sites.la.utexas.edu\/kb\/files\/2020\/06\/bannerRequest1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"480\" height=\"646\" srcset=\"http:\/\/sites.la.utexas.edu\/kb\/files\/2020\/06\/bannerRequest1.jpg 480w, http:\/\/sites.la.utexas.edu\/kb\/files\/2020\/06\/bannerRequest1-223x300.jpg 223w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 480px) 100vw, 480px\" \/><\/a><\/pre>\n<p>Ask your client\/project manager for any missing assets<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/sites.la.utexas.edu\/kb\/files\/2020\/06\/bannerchange2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-3103\" src=\"https:\/\/sites.la.utexas.edu\/kb\/files\/2020\/06\/bannerchange2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"510\" height=\"247\" srcset=\"http:\/\/sites.la.utexas.edu\/kb\/files\/2020\/06\/bannerchange2.jpg 646w, http:\/\/sites.la.utexas.edu\/kb\/files\/2020\/06\/bannerchange2-300x145.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 510px) 100vw, 510px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>If you were asked to design a new banner, these questions can be used to gather deliverables from the client and set expectations for the project.<\/p>\n<pre><strong>Will the banner consist of original illustration\/photography?\r\n\r\n<\/strong>- complex graphics take longer to execute\/illustrate\r\n- If a photo-shoot is needed, consider shoot logistics, \r\n  co-ordination, art direction, photographer, subject or talent, \r\n  and location\r\n\r\n<strong>Time Estimation\r\n<\/strong>\r\n- It can take between 2 to 4 hours to produce a simple banner\r\n- Consider the time for client communication, idea generation, \r\n  and passing drafts back and forth for approval\r\n\r\n<\/pre>\n<p>Once we have collected all required assets and information, we are ready to start preparing the banner.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><strong>STEP 2 &#8211; Prepare the banner<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Create a new Photoshop file following the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/liberalarts.utexas.edu\/web-admin-help\/graphics\/top-image.php\">COLA Guidelines<\/a>\u00a0shown below:<\/p>\n<pre><a href=\"https:\/\/sites.la.utexas.edu\/kb\/files\/2020\/06\/bannerChange3.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-3104\" src=\"https:\/\/sites.la.utexas.edu\/kb\/files\/2020\/06\/bannerChange3.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"607\" height=\"619\" srcset=\"http:\/\/sites.la.utexas.edu\/kb\/files\/2020\/06\/bannerChange3.jpg 768w, http:\/\/sites.la.utexas.edu\/kb\/files\/2020\/06\/bannerChange3-294x300.jpg 294w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 607px) 100vw, 607px\" \/><\/a><\/pre>\n<h3><strong><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">When you are designing your banner,\u00a0<\/span>Keep in mind that Cascade has a file size limit of 200KB.<\/span><\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>When your design is ready,<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>export your design.<\/li>\n<li>Take a screenshot of the website<\/li>\n<li>Place your design on the screenshot to create a mock up of how the website would look with the new banner<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<pre><a href=\"https:\/\/sites.la.utexas.edu\/kb\/files\/2020\/06\/bannerChange4.jpg\">Mockup Example: \r\n<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-3105\" src=\"https:\/\/sites.la.utexas.edu\/kb\/files\/2020\/06\/bannerChange4.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"607\" height=\"557\" srcset=\"http:\/\/sites.la.utexas.edu\/kb\/files\/2020\/06\/bannerChange4.jpg 607w, http:\/\/sites.la.utexas.edu\/kb\/files\/2020\/06\/bannerChange4-300x275.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 607px) 100vw, 607px\" \/><\/a><\/pre>\n<p>Post your mock up on Basecamp\/email your client for feedback and approval.<\/p>\n<p>Once you design is approved, you are ready to upload the new banner to Cascade.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2><strong>STEP 3 &#8211; Most COLA sites will be in the units folder (e.g. site: units &gt; anthropology). Use the site content tree (left sidebar) to search for it.<\/p>\n<p>Click on the page called\u00a0<strong>index<\/strong>\u00a0under the parent folder. Under select-section-to-edit, select\u00a0<strong>main-image<\/strong>.
