Most designers use it to create titles, intros, and transition between clips for more seamless video production. STAs at LAITS work on online course graphic projects and some of the clients would request introduction animation such as the one shown below. Import the file into your project by <strong>Ctrl\/cmd + I<\/strong> or right click on the <strong>project panel<\/strong> -&gt; <strong>import<\/strong> -&gt; <strong>file&#8230;<\/strong> then select the files you would like to upload.<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/lh6.googleusercontent.com\/HgjM5Bn5un-459IpWoR2vnua7N0hsEIQfb8I7HSBlBVWJHS2wMPy72Dl8zaGp9Do140bfGZQuXOiBZyf7WL1HnBoTbgtBs_oWNBzhlCbRevwj5f8_e42fjG9JKVv0MmxkJMyXRvU\" width=\"371\" height=\"347\"><\/li><li>On the pop up window, select \u201c<strong>Composition<\/strong>\u201d for<strong> Import Kind<\/strong><strong><\/strong><\/li><li>Double click on your composition to open it, you should see all the layers in your PS\/AI file on the timeline.<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/lh6.googleusercontent.com\/cuD8JX_RSSMoGpuUqd4XLs1306GiIGbgSVUHX8utlOIzT6m-8AAqmxoNz6WuKoJxDdecz4ZkpJZOmSx8uiRPL1FjrR0VenEAHWcfLtMpsY6rrvKpcHxS4xOPBnRVzzAzXUdktM02\" width=\"624\" height=\"149\"><\/li><li>If you ever want to add new assets to the composition, repeat the <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/document\/d\/1Q0Wa6xVi4YI4mXiMkPOpcSefuAPStRrxOw9GJ4TpDDw\/edit#bookmark=id.8ec5lyt9fv5s\">importing steps<\/a> then click and drag the imported asset onto the timeline.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Step 2: Simple movement &amp; setting keyframes<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Once you have imported your assets, it\u2019s time to animate them by creating keyframes. <strong>Keyframes<\/strong> are markers in time that allow you to tell After Effects where you want to change the value for a layer or effect property such as position, opacity, scale, rotation, amount, particle count, color, etc.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Keyframing position<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Drag your playhead to the beginning of the timeline to set you initial position<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"586\" height=\"137\" src=\"https:\/\/lh6.googleusercontent.com\/cHvVyPBbV1NxIWyd8EKefregswkqpRMw-QjyUaRhPY5HTR2gvhcDc00XxPPIi5-6ZM6zaFZfMgoYss6tVmO47ZWkWwdmCHOSHNc0Ic4xxYU6vaU0jxEIRm3vuMwSnpbswWkDdR1n\"><\/li><li>Select the layer you would like to animate, and press \u201c<strong>P<\/strong>\u201d to show \u201cPosition. \u201d (You can also find position by clicking on the layer dropdown -&gt; \u201cTransformation\u201d)<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"589\" height=\"133\" src=\"https:\/\/lh4.googleusercontent.com\/Ev8oNSQY5aZayFhUi4ZhRC8Pz5e2fqPx4GQFv_tWY7gH_CCeQ-Ak2E2HlMki8H1cMlXrefvYJuQsmW3sswRPpy0kfqHaMvz6Io0h6QRZtRm5Nm419KPEw-VLAhCbNEbXgfe-gWYx\"><\/li><li>Move your graphic to your desired starting position and click on the clock icon to add a keyframe. <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"590\" height=\"138\" src=\"https:\/\/lh5.googleusercontent.com\/31PQU3MDZBS7wezDX_cVXIIO67biAXoz3RNIa-HJ6xNWNxP4azZV_fNW_Z3MbgxQ5vR4Pf-qsi__1VvIhEcLEY2WtOLYtD6MDyGxtKjwU2KioOL5PyB58x2kPSzG0V6JDGPJ75Dz\"><\/li><li>Drag your playhead to the next second or later.<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"589\" height=\"121\" src=\"https:\/\/lh3.googleusercontent.com\/aPdt8dIcDxn34uYObQ6e45zsJJryFMhg3TfHBGzkprimjXPE2XazVHMJsE0sIm7riMBYdNjzAixLBmdJ-oxJq5Vnn4IKTDI_wkk0ozn_TaFM__1e1uv9GummLJmiwqj5OTY_3GI2\"><\/li><li>Move your graphic to a new position, it should automatically add a keyframe for you. (if not, click on the diamond shape \u2018\u2b25\u2019 to manually insert a keyframe)<\/li><li>Now drag your playhead back to the beginning and press Space to play your animation.<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"585\" height=\"359\" src=\"https:\/\/lh3.googleusercontent.com\/Y5CiL5IZuh4QqzyPYSXSnMcCQckP2fk1z3o36NdtgFvjvnHrKIevBMF4DA0fdQ0z3bHPAjXvShazwOUOjDDTujBDSIJX8yOUK6NFAZH4YFNmS-gLpIWb1S_d-reqM2L9q2uNvXlQ\"><\/li><li>Follow the same steps to add in more keyframes<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Need some more help understanding keyframes? Select the graphic layer and press \u201c<strong>S<\/strong>\u201d or click on the layer dropdown -&gt; \u201cTransform\u201d to show \u201cScale\u201d <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/lh4.googleusercontent.com\/2E6hAimd4nI3Lpvalm7s4pdYXB5syBvforHem7ulE07ikKVGFaK4qDn_G5iQnVIDaFG8nCcHm-Q0BIEXVMF8YlHS8Bm0HAbP2jledgDZycOw5dfTmdDu5imiGscTefu6AoSrBI10\" width=\"586\" height=\"145\"><\/li><li>Follow the same steps you did for keyframing position, but this time do it on the Scale column.<\/li><li>Here is an example of scale animation:<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/lh5.googleusercontent.com\/JbbLOBgUHB2kXCPgEU5HLR7QMsnTRj4fwCv2ZdBxJztvtKjAIxZ8mfDpIpvVhpEJka-HC-HdShoVqScA6HdPqWx7FirfGBDL4pR4cf2OIjeDEWsAvfHDc7meHiEBxIgD4nYKnUPq\" width=\"584\" height=\"358\"><\/li><li>To make your graphic rotate, adjust your anchor point to set the origin of rotation. Select the graphic layer and press \u201c<strong>A<\/strong>\u201d or click on the layer dropdown -&gt; \u201cTransform\u201d to show \u201cAnchor Point\u201d<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/lh5.googleusercontent.com\/EOmFG5WXwyWMDp9PNjRfsOMOMQqQ7CvOpDLWfyNeI_uK-GuSNwgqm3luv2xe_foGArKonNuoQVVUjR8drMoa7tG7MFcivqFtYLq_4GHXR-NkQM_C0qbpU7XlW7j5cNzzQ4X0Ol0y\" width=\"566\" height=\"336\"><\/li><li>create keyframes in the rotation column. Select the graphic layer and press \u201c<strong>R<\/strong>\u201d or click on the layer dropdown -&gt; \u201cTransform\u201d to show \u201cRotation\u201d<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/lh4.googleusercontent.com\/BEUEY8k70dxBX4kj2FBsEiN9cby832QRFVUw-2x9br-jYc5YUEdDvc9zSydduiyjTTiY9WGq0sLHTwI5Dmx7ic0SCrK_jIz9y8lMwGj1HWJpwr0Wnf-qVg9TN8AjGyWO4No0srcW\" width=\"569\" height=\"142\"><\/li><li>Add keyframes on the rotation column following the same steps you did for position and scale.<\/li><li>Here is an example of rotation animation<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/lh5.googleusercontent.com\/ytAKxK4W5tgef0jW4pAUYV6570o4Sd1iZfIPkJUWrlYSGeHfKD-ePc09TChIZXWGPNlR5zgxxRUYym6ZqxAbXLsS1Box-5iXhxuhif4WYJAxPt0HkZZClGskQCl9QpiVF8bjJ9Zv\" width=\"567\" height=\"349\"><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Step 3: Fade in &amp; Fade out<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>To create a fade in effect, drag your playhead to the beginning of the timeline.<\/li><li>Select the graphic layer and press \u201c<strong>T<\/strong>\u201d or click on the layer dropdown -&gt; \u201cTransform\u201d to show \u201cOpacity\u201d<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/lh3.googleusercontent.com\/c5mLCRQk5Rom8GTdBcL-ca9Fi-z7SYOD1m7btUiwFOTnABa90O5_qINDV0gEFzPmsyNkSlfntRaZ_Y9XppuuAsm7_uzNn25sjmodtdudPediRu5h8CHIjpe31aDxUYE7A-HDaPTZ\" width=\"625\" height=\"156\"><\/li><li>Lower opacity to 0% then create a keyframe by clicking on the clock icon.<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/lh3.googleusercontent.com\/nCBYUAg3IXqq0Abvlg_Qa-0sBsO9nwpc_ET7r9obsQgR0ToHtLynod3TBRBPQ-xpV-10kVS5XpsLdY-hF_eaauARufxq88maUee1f80XS9qG4y_Ds8L1lny1AdUb1AOUgTDDPGk8\" width=\"628\" height=\"117\"><\/li><li>Drag your playhead a few seconds or frames ahead (depending on how long you want the fade in to take)<\/li><li>Set opacity to 100%<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/lh3.googleusercontent.com\/3SAouqheDUR5bKqmTiVHihflae3N9DFzQnEmlUUKbzLEvaJ47vOdGaAj9FdveQkd3XaIOEG0gY-qh6PQ41B8LnitSSlDW91jD27RaRVZtYhzvxd1QeV38c7tnFxrGwr0JlfTp4pd\" width=\"630\" height=\"110\"><\/li><li>Do a play back and make adjustments to the fade in as you like.<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/lh4.googleusercontent.com\/ZcSXJn3muSndjHIzWLCGpm_RlrIdr9Rgib_RS8n4HI8EQ32kQWzhCmXOtOtsUHYOKbMamJ7Us7au16TCS-W-z5v0VVE84hOtvgeaGOyGgxV81hEkgypfWtLAOEt8DVqU8lz0zfsU\" width=\"630\" height=\"387\"><\/li><li>Fade out would go from 100% opacity to 0%<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Step 4: Adding effects<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>There are many built-in effects in After effects that are ready to use, to apply an effect to a graphic, go to the effect panel. You can find it under \u201cwindow\u201d -&gt; \u201ceffects &amp; presets\u201d<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/lh6.googleusercontent.com\/-dXVHrBL36c5jj9UJ3xc0U7pfKDnnPaQNrI5rAg8NPzAcxqm7g6RMSYmQJnPaa07UhRaV4XtgZ7Jr8Xvfd2hJBfGvPMPdK0M53imAheKw6_au4eOSSWDggTHAiLu4OyDZelwP4W7\" width=\"613\" height=\"449\"><\/li><li>For example, search up \u201cwave wrap\u201d<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/lh4.googleusercontent.com\/RAfk2ZdbEMXzzNvfRc9gIH6KiK8lXnVh7sqjokozk-KTKFoTTWSUl4mEQ1NrZX7CAo66h2EPYnn0mHcgVnW89jwramz8axqknTpxMCkf6uZTaxnylRYrn6OLSt1WRK7MrbmFq_oo\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>drag and drop the effect onto your graphic layer<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/lh3.googleusercontent.com\/VjZOsjzr78sVotZ_s6NFstSZZbkzyToqj1MbF5cbOA5StOp3-DevEo--bZRBh-NW3Ref80j3OfNYhxYJKN2uYesHkEhsohZXEvFMpq0dtClyKt1QhCyN9fO8qCcg2q8ygQirl76I\" width=\"624\" height=\"415\"><\/li><li>You can adjust the strength and other properties of the effect in the effect control panel. Typically, when a project is rendered (Rendering (computer graphics) , it is rather large in file size. &#8230; Once all those variables are considered, it can be processed through <strong>Adobe Media Encoder<\/strong>.
