I am happy to welcome Dr. Laura Guse from the Goethe-Universitaet Frankfurt to UT for her 3 week-long research stay. She will be conducting research on motion constructions in Texas German.

Together with my colleagues Collin Baker (International Computer Science Institute, Berkeley, California) and Josef Ruppenhofer (Fernuniversitaet Hagen, Germany), I just published a new paper on FrameNet at 25: Results and Applications in the International Journal of Lexicography.

Two talks on Texas German in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, at the 49th annual Symposium of the Society for German American Studies: “The study of Texas German in the 1960s” (together with Marc Pierce and Joren Somers) and “Updating the Texas German Dialect Corpus for (Comparative) Speech Island Analysis” (together with Thomas Schmidt and and Margo Blevins).
