New article just published! This week saw the publication of the co-authored (with Marc Pierce) paper The for … zu construction in Texas German, in a Festschrift honoring our colleague Bill Keel from the University of Kansas.

New co-authored publication (with Jakob Horsch) on Construction Grammar-based research on Slovak is out!

This week, I’m happy to welcome Caroline Reher (Technical University of Dortmund, Germany) to UT Austin to give a talk on “Zur Vergleichbarkeit und Operationalisierbarkeit von sprachlichen Daten: Eine Fallstudie zu extraterritorialen Varietäten des Deutschen in Chile, Texas und Namibia” and to collaborate with the team of the Texas German Dialect Project on further comparative speech island analyses.

On Nov. 20, 2026, I will be giving a presentation on the history of the German language in Texas at the newly (re-)opened Goethe Institute in Houston.

New publication in the Yearbook of German American Studies! A co-authored paper on Exploring Past and Present Texas German Voices, written together with Jana Weiss, Margo Blevins and Verena Sauer.
