Possible Lives
Possible Lives: What Would You Like to Do…First?
Overview
Now that you’ve mapped and analyzed your personal history, discovered some of your strengths, and analyzed your mindsets and your major, it’s time to start thinking about where you might apply those skills.
Many job seekers don’t have just one career goal in mind—they have several. They are open to various possibilities. While this is good, it can also make the job search harder because you might have trouble settling on one option.
In this lesson you will consider a variety of career options and complete a Possible Lives exercise that will help you narrow down your interests so you can start to pursue a career path.
By the time you complete this lesson, you will have your career options written down (which helps to clear the clutter in your head) and you will have an idea of what you need to do next.
Objectives
By the end of this lesson, you will:
* Identify career fields or positions of interest
* Create a possible lives map illustrating your career ideas
* Analyzed your map for any characteristics you will want to find in future jobs
* Determined the one or more career paths you are going to explore further
EXTRAS FOR THIS UNIT:
