Tamil Graphemic system
Tamil consonants are classified in to three classes namely, strong, soft, and middle.
In a sequence Tamil alphabets are arranged from left to right. Tamil
graphemic system is generally syllabic in nature. Through eighteen Frames, the 18 Tamil consonants and 12 vowels and four Grandha consonants are introduced. The sound values and their distributions of consonants and vowels are also explained. In this section the distributions of the graphemes like initial, medial and final positions in words are given for further understanding of their occurrence. This enables the learners of Tamil to have fair idea for understanding Tamil writing system and word structure.
