Simple Sentences

Writing from right to left, the simplest sentence structure is as follows:

verb subject
[tag resources simplesentences_01]رفتم[/tag] [tag resources simplesentences_02]من[/tag]
raftam man
[tag resources simplesentences_03]من رفتم[/tag]
man raftam
‘I went’

The verb is always placed at the end of the sentence.

A more complex sentence may include a combination of nouns, adjectives or adverbs as the subject of the sentence, and a more complex predicate. For instance, it might include adjectives, prepositions, elements of time and place, and many more such items as extra information.

verb adjective subject

verb object/place preposition subject

‘went’ ‘school’ ‘to’ ‘yesterday’ ‘I’
[tag resources simplesentences_17]من دیروز به مدرسه رفتم[/tag]

The element of time and the subject of the sentence may switch places:

verb object/place preposition subject time
[tag resources simplesentences_18]رفتم[/tag] [tag resources simplesentences_19]مدرسه[/tag] [tag resources simplesentences_20]به[/tag] [tag resources simplesentences_21]من[/tag] [tag resources simplesentences22]دیروز[/tag]
raftam madrese be man diruz
‘went’ ‘school’ ‘to’ ‘I’ ‘yesterday’
[tag resources simplesentences_23]من دیروز به مدرسه رفتم[/tag]
man diruz be madrese raftam
‘I went to school yesterday’ ‘yesterday, I went to school’

The element of place should be the closest to the verb, at the end of the sentence; that is, immediately before the verb. If there are any explanations or attributes regarding the element of place, they may intervene between place and the verb:

verb object/place preposition time subject
[tag resources simplesentences_24]رفتم[/tag] [tag resources simplesentences_25]مدرسه [/tag] [tag resources simplesentences_26]به[/tag] [tag resources simplesentences_27]دیروز[/tag] [tag resources simplesentences_28]من[/tag]
raftam madrese be diruz man
‘went’ ‘school’ ‘to’ ‘yesterday’ ‘I’
[tag resources simplesentences_29]من دیروز به مدرسه رفتم[/tag]
man diruz be madrese raftam
‘I went to school yesterday’
