Diglossia Rules

When a word with a final [-e] is followed by any of the personal possessive endings and also by ast ‘is,’ it is assimilated into the following /a/ vowel (which is the initial sound of the personal suffix); for example (note the displacement of the stress):

my house xāne|-am خانه/خانه ام xuna|m خونه م
your child bačče|-at بچّه/بچّه ات bačč|at بچّه ت
his/her maternal aunt xāle|-aš خاله/خاله اش xāla|š خاله ش
our group, team daste|-amān دسته/ دستا مان dassa|mun دستا مون
your package, bundle baste|-atān بسته/ بسته تان bassa|tun بسه تون
their lane, street kuče|-ašān کوچه/کوچه شان kuča|šun کوچه شون
he/she is [at] home u xāne| ast او خانه است un xuna|s اون خونه ست
