These are the steps to sign up to use the Lectures Online system:
- Verify that your course is in a Lectures Online equipped room. A full list of rooms with the service is available here.
- If you are in a room with the Lectures Online system equipped, you can sign up via this link.
- Enter your EID when prompted.
- After logging in, a “Welcome to Lectures Online” page will appear with general information about the system and support. If you are ready to sign up, click on the “Sign up” button at the bottom of the page.
- A page will appear listing all of the courses for which you are noted as an instructor in Canvas during the semester for which we are scheduling. Click on the box next to the course or courses you would like to have recorded. If you have any questions or additional information you would like to provide, please note them in the “Comment/Questions” box at the bottom of the page.
- Once you have entered all your information, click on the “Submit” button at the bottom of the page.
- A confirmation of your submission page will appear. You will also receive and email confirming your selections to your official UT email account.
Once your request is received, a member of the Lectures Online support staff will schedule. Please note that most scheduling takes place during the week before classes start, so if you sign up several weeks before the first day of class, there might be an extended delay, but your course will be scheduled. During the first two weeks of classes, our scheduling team tries to schedule courses within an hour of receiving them, during regular hours of operation.
A few notes:
- The information presented on the sign up page is based on information provided from Canvas. If you combine multiple courses into one Canvas course page, you will only see the option for the course to which you have combined courses. If you would like to record a course that is not listed, please note it in the “Comment/Questions” box.
- If a course is grayed out on the sign up page, it is not taught in a room equipped with Lectures Online. If you think this is an error, please note it in the “Comment/Questions” box.
- If you teach two sections of the same course, one in a Lectures Online equipped room and one not in a Lectures Online equipped room, we can make the recordings available to your other section, just provide the unique number, meeting days/time, and room number for this other section in the “Comment/Questions” box.
- A list of any signups you have requested will appear at the top of the sign up page.

When can I sign up
- You can sign up for Fall courses starting on 1 Aug.
- You can sign up for Spring/May term courses starting on 1 Dec.
- You can sign up for Summer courses starting on 1 May.
