In colloquial phonology, the final glottal (plosive or fricative) is normally dropped and compensated for by lengthening the preceding vowel (at least in conservative constructions):
ten | dah | ده | da: | دَ |
village | deh | ده | de: | دِ |
moon, month | māh | ماه | mā: | ما |
mountain | kuh | کوه | ku: | کو |
tallow, fat, lard | pih | پیه | pi: | پی |
members | a’zā’ | اعضاء | a:zā: | اضا |
mint | na’nā’ | نعناع | na:nā: | ننا |
